Growatt is expanding its footprint in Poland as the PV market continues to evolve, with growing demand across residential, commercial and storage applications.
Munich, 22. November 2024
The story of Growatt began in 2011 with a group of solar energy enthusiasts convinced that photovoltaics would play a key role in the global energy transition. Since then, the company has steadily expanded its product portfolio with the aim of supporting a more sustainable energy future. Today, Growatt supplies solutions for a wide range of photovoltaic applications globally, including an increasing presence in Poland. In this interview, Ramon Li, Vice President at Growatt and Head of European Sales, outlines his perspective on the Polish PV market.
How would you describe Growatt’s role in the Polish PV market?
Ramon Li: Growatt is a new energy company focused on the research, development and manufacturing of photovoltaic components. Our product portfolio includes inverters, energy storage systems, electric vehicle charging solutions and smart energy management systems.
When did you enter the Polish market?
We entered the Polish market in 2014 and have since been actively involved in the country’s photovoltaic and energy storage sector. We have received the “Top Brand PV Poland” award for several consecutive years. To support local customers and installers, we established a branch in Katowice, ensuring efficient product delivery and technical support.
How is Growatt positioned in the Polish market?
According to a recent report by S&P Global, Growatt was the world’s second-largest supplier of residential inverters and the fifth-largest PV inverter supplier in 2023. This strong position supports our reputation, which is well recognised by customers in the region.
What products and solutions do you offer in Poland?
We offer our full product range in the Polish market. In the residential segment, this includes battery-ready inverters, UPS hybrid storage inverters, off-grid inverters and all-in-one systems for single-phase and three-phase applications. We also provide portable power stations for outdoor and camping use, with capacities ranging from 550 to 3,600 watt-hours. For commercial and industrial applications, we offer systems such as the WIT 50–100K-HU and WIT 29.9–50K-XHU, including compatibility with commercial battery systems. These solutions support both on-grid and off-grid operation as well as parallel configurations.
Do you offer solutions adapted to regulatory changes in the Polish residential PV market?
Yes. Of particular relevance to the Polish market is our freely available software platform. It enables energy management based on dynamic electricity tariffs, ensuring that PV systems are prepared for evolving regulatory requirements. The system supports automatic acquisition of day-ahead electricity prices and allows configuration of electricity purchase and feed-in tariffs according to grid operator requirements. It combines weather data with user consumption profiles to generate production and load forecasts. It can also respond to scenarios with negative electricity prices.
How do you adapt your approach to national market conditions?
As a global company, our products are installed in more than 180 countries. To ensure fast delivery and efficient service, Growatt operates an extensive international network with 42 offices and warehouses worldwide, including a local presence in Poland.
Do you see strong potential in the Polish PV market?
The Polish PV market is growing rapidly and has the potential to become one of the fastest-expanding markets in Europe, particularly given the continued reliance on coal-based electricity generation.
What developments do you expect in the Polish PV sector over the next 4 to 12 months?
We expect new incentive programmes to support renewable energy, particularly in the commercial and industrial storage segment. This is likely to increase demand for related components. Our Smart Scheduling Mode aligns well with the shift towards dynamic electricity pricing. With planned grid expansion, we also see long-term growth potential for large-scale PV installations in Poland, which will further drive demand for advanced system solutions.
